All programs are free unless otherwise noted. FrankenRead 2018: Santa Ana Reads Frankenstein is a project of Makara Center for the Arts, a Santa Ana 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The mission of Makara Center for the Arts is to provide access to arts & culture to Santa Ana residents. Founded in Jan. 2016, Makara's primary program is a free lending library and art center.

FrankenStitch: Reuse, Repair, Repurpose

FRANKENSTITCH: RESTITCH, REPAIR, REPURPOSE

Bring your battered up jeans, holey sweaters, and torn tees to Makara's FrankenStitch! This beginners workshop will teach you the basics of mending your clothes and finding beauty in imperfection. 

Hand sewn repairs:

  • Patching
  • Darning small holes in socks/sweaters
  • Sashiko inspired mending

FREE! Open to the public. Please bring a garment you would like to work on. Fabric swatches will also be available.
